GOODWIN, Wallace “Buzz”, CPO 2nd Class (Retired) … 61, Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening, July 10, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 27, 1946 in Amherst, he was a son of the late Wallace and Annie (Ellis) Goodwin.

Buzz joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 17 and continued to proudly serve with the Canadian Armed Forces for more than 25 years. He was a member of Knox United Church, participated in the Nova Scotia International Tattoo and many will also remember him from driving the zamboni at the Bedford Arena for 18 years. He loved hockey and played on many teams over the years and he never missed the chance to watch a hockey game and cheer on his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. (Go Leafs Go!)

Buzz is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lois (Baker) Goodwin; children, Crystal (Keith) Pyke, Coldbrook; Michael (Tracy) Goodwin, Jacksonville, Florida; Tammy (Bob) Auchterlonie, Lower Sackville; Andrea (Dale) Hubley, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Laura, Maxwell, Fraser, Zoey, Lola, Faith; sisters, Geraldine Sperry, Susan (Mike) McNally, Melinda Goodwin, Jennifer Goodwin (Stephen DeLong) all of Amherst; brothers, David (Anne) Goodwin, Alberta; Tony (Ruth Ann) Goodwin, Amherst; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Marjorie in infancy; brother, Roger in infancy.

A special thank you is extended to the Palliative Care Team, especially Barb Stewart, and the VON Home Support Team. Buzz’s family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Saturday, July 12, 2008, funeral service 3 pm Sunday, July 13, 2008, both in Knox United Church, 567 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, Reverend Donna Lovelace officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private family interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Buzz’s memory to Knox United Church or Bedford Lions and Lionettes are welcomed.
