John Edward “Eddy” Tucker … 80, Truro, passed away
suddenly Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at home, surrounded by his
loving family. Born February 11, 1928 in Springhill, he was a son of
the late William and Kathrine (MacCloud) Tucker.
John was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He lived all his life in Canada, except for when he served in the Army. He joined the army reserve in 1942 when he was only 14 years old and was discharged in 1958. He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders during the Second World War, 81st Field R.C.A and served twice in Korea, 4th R.C.H.A. and earned numerous medals while enlisted.
John is survived by his loving wife and companion of over 50 years, Lillian Victoria (Savory; Terry); daughters, Kathryn (Phil) Gardipy, Ontario; Carolyn (Robert) Cahill-Lane, Truro; Linda (Ben) Jardine, Ontario; Judy (Paul) Skazalski, Michigan; Jacqueline (Gerald) Richards, Portapique; Tami (Howard) MacKenzie, Bible Hill; sons, Pat (Gail) Terry, Ontario; Brian Terry, Stephen (Elizabeth) Tucker, all of Truro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Tucker; sons, Russell, Richard and Timothy Tucker; sister, Clare (Tucker) Scott; brothers, Borden, Percy, William and Gerald; half sisters, Lilly, Pearlie, and Violet; half brother, Arthur.
John’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday, January 4, 2008, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 will conduct a tribute service at 7 pm Sunday, January 4, 2008 and funeral service will be held 6 pm Monday, January 5, 2008, Mr. William Bezanson officiating, all in Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in Robie Street Cemetery. If so desired, donations in John’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed.
