C. Russell Pye - 77, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 13, 1931 in Granville Ferry, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Basil and Frances (Lee) Pye.

He worked for Michelin Tire, Granton and retired from there in 1992.

Russell is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Frances (Staples); sons, Riley (Debbie), Quispamsis, New Brunswick; Gerald (Amanda Levy-Pye), Wellington, Yarmouth County; grandchildren, Jason, Josh and Michael Pye, Quispamsis; Robyn and Neil Levy-Pye, Wellington, Yarmouth County; sister, Lena (Don) Davidson, Truro; brother, Basil (Irene), Orillia, Ontario; sister-in-law, Lottie Pye, Stewiacke; aunt, Bea Pye, Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Arnold.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Russell’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2009, from where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 7, 2009, Reverend David MacNaughton officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Russell’s memory to Parkinson Foundation of Canada, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada, Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
