Lorraine Marie MacDonald - 77, Truro, (Springhill). On the morning of Sunday, January 15, 2012, another angel was peacefully laid to rest. Lorraine, a loving wife to Bill, loving mother to Alan, Jan and Greg, loving grandmother to Jessie, Josh, Stefanie, Daniel, Alex, Janie-Marie, Alanna, great grandmother to Lucy, Drake and Isabell, loving sister to Ellen and Patty. Born in Springhill on November 4, 1934, a loving daughter to Roderick and Elizabeth (Taylor) MacDonald.

Lorraine traveled and lived in many places in Canada as well as Europe, as part of the Military family before making Truro her home with Bill and family. Lorraine enjoyed many homecomings with family and friends, Christmases and summers at home in Springhill and at the beach in Pugwash, enjoying the cottage and wonderful family times with loved ones. Lorraine enjoyed playing bridge, sing songs, dances, shopping and travel with family and friends over the years. Lorraine was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish and ladies C.W.L. “Always in our heart and forever loved”.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, John William MacDonald; daughter, Jan (Bruce) and families, Truro; sons, Alan (Lois) and families, Ontario; Greg (Heather) and family, Truro; sister, Ellen (Bryan) Macauley and families, Pugwash; She is also survived by brother-in-law, Donald (Donna) MacDonald; sister-in-law, Mary (Frankie) Taylor; uncle, Danny MacDonald; aunt, Eleanor Ferris; missed as well by nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Lorraine was predeceased by both parents, Roderick and Elizabeth (Snookie); sister, Patty and Ray MacPhee; infant brother, Jackie. The family would like to express their gratitude to the care given to Lorraine the past few weeks from the 4th floor nursing, I.C.U. staff and Dr. MacKenny at the Colchester Regional Hospital. Thank you also to all friends and family members for their love and support and phone calls during this time.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by request. There will be a service to celebrate Lorraine’s life 2 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. A reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Spring interment to be held at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice.
