Jennie Bell Locke - 94, Townsview Estates Nursing Home, Truro,
formerly of Trenton, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 16, 2012,
with her loving family at her side. Born March 17, 1917, in Keble,
Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Stella
(Chisholm) Cameron.
Jennie was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow and was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Trenton. She taught school all her life in Nuttby, Seafoam and finally in Trenton. Not one to sit idle, she loved exercise and enjoyed being a member at New Glasgow “Y”, yoga classes and swimming well in her 70s. She enjoyed knitting and loved to read, upwards of 10-12 books each week.
Jennie is survived by her children, Diane Wylie-Bell (Adam Bell), Dorothy (Barry) Diamond, Dartmouth; Mary (John) Rogers, Stewiacke; Alan (Susan) Locke, Calgary; Clayton (Genevieve) Locke, Sydney; grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Green, Sonya Diamond, Diane (Barry) Harnish, Elizabeth (Richard) Patterson, Rebecca Rogers (Trevor Laing), Michael Locke, Andrea Locke, Steven Locke; great grandchildren, Matthew Green, Luke Green, Mitchell Patterson; sister, Katherine “Kay” McQueen, Bowmanville, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Arthur Locke; granddaughter, Emma Locke; sister, Helen Reid; brothers, George (Marion) Cameron, Roderick “Rod” Cameron; son-in-law, William Wylie; brother-in-law, Earl McQueen.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Trenton. If so desired, donations in Jennie’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
