Redmond, Garfield Kaye, 76, Truro, passed away Monday, January 23,
2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro, after a brave battle
with cancer. Born on June 27, 1935 in Wentworth, he was the son of the
late Robert and Lelia (Patriquin) Redmond. He was employed for many
years as a mechanic with Mussens and Hoyt and Patterson, and later
with Navistar as a Technical Service Manager, until his retirement. He
was a member of the Over the Track Bowling League for 40 plus years
and a member of the Commercial Men’s Bowling for a number of
years. He is an honorary member, and former Chief of the Salmon River
Fire Brigade. He was also a member of the East Mountain Golf Club for
many years. Kaye was a wonderful husband, great father and
grandfather, and a very loyal friend to many. He was very proud of all
of his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment he was able to spend
with his family. He will be well remembered for his great sense of
humor and loved spending time with his pool, card and horseshoe
buddies. He will be sadly missed by all who knew mand met him. Kaye is
survived by the love of his life, Kathaleen (Langille) whom he was
married to for 55 years; daughters, Tina (Doug) Leger, Truro; Dawn
(John), Edmonton; son, Wade (Michele) Redmond, Portage la Prairie;
grandchildren, Aaron Leger, Fort McMurray, Justin Leger, Halifax, Josh
(Krysta) McNutt, Edmonton, Emily and Kathaleen Redmond, Portage la
Prairie; sister, Yvonne, Hamilton, ON; sisters-in-law, Eva Redmond,
Oxford, Peggy Langille, NB; brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Shirley) Langille,
Truro, Bud (Myrna) MacDonald, Truro; Aunt Thelma Redmond, Truro, Aunt
Hazel Swallow, Truro, Uncle Kenneth Swallow , Oromocto; several nieces
and nephews. Along with his parents, Kaye was predeceased by his two
brothers, Knowlton and Keith; one infant sister, Bertha; several
aunts, uncles, cousins, sister-in-law, Joan MacDonald; brother-in-law,
Jerald Langille and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4-5 and
7-9pm Thursday, January 26 and a Fireman’s Service 2pm Friday,
January 27, conducted by the Salmon River Fire Brigade, all in the
Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, with a
reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment to be held at a
later date in the Wentworth United Church Cemetery in Wentworth.

Care Unit, Medical Day Unit – Truro Hospital, or the Cancer Unit
in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital – Halifax. Private messages of
