It has been more than 45 years since Ed and Sheila Varner first became associated with Mattatall Funeral Home and it was with tremendous pride that they announced in the fall of 2004 that they had purchased the funeral home from the corporate group for whom they had managed the business. Having built their personal and professional lives in Truro, they were delighted to be investing in the future of the community. When word got out that the firm was once again locally owned, the response from the community was extremely generous and gratifying.
Encouraged by the community’s response and by the return of their son Bruce to his hometown, to join them in the business, Ed & Sheila took the decision, in 2008, to add their name to the business.
Today, with his parents retired, Bruce is the firm’s managing director, leading a skilled team of funeral directors and support staff and proudly carrying on the legacy that the Mattatall and Varner families have been building since 1932.
